The 7-series chipset lineup from AMD already includes high-end and mid-range variants. According to a report by DigiTimes, those will soon be joined by mainstream and value offerings with integrated graphics. The report quotes unnamed sources at motherboard manufacturers as saying AMD plans to roll out RS780 and RS740 chipsets some time next month.
DigiTimes relates little information about the RS740. However, it does say the RS780 will include HyperTransport 3.0 and PCI Express 2.0 support as well as a DirectX 10 graphics processor with H.264 video decoding capability and a choice of DisplayPort, HDMI, and DVI display outputs. DigiTimes also claims that a new Hybrid CrossFire X technology in the RS780 will allow users to couple the integrated graphics processor with discrete GPUs for enhanced graphics performance.
